Fernando's Custom Rebel Project

  • Sportster tank (first generation type) mounted with stainless polished hardware.
  • Custom studded leather seats. Polished (by me) motor side covers and valve cover.
  • One inch rise bars.
  • Bates type headlight with custom mount.
  • Engine painted red by me.
  • Not in this picture are: red front caliper.
  • Harley highway pegs.
  • red clutch and brake lever (dipped rubber).
  • red dash board.
  • The paint was done by a BMW dealer and is white with a black frame. The frame was clear coated with blue metal flake in it resulting in a subtle red, white, and blue scheme.
  • After-market Rebel Parts- ZERO.

This bike was found in such bad condition that the handle bars broke off when I pushed it onto the truck. I built this bike on commision in 1997 and it is still on the road without any problems. Hardest part? Restoring the wiring harness from two originals that I had. Lots of tiny contacts to clean. We tweeked the motor only slightly and removed most of the baffles in the stock pipes. Very nice to ride and surprising power. Drawbacks? Only that the fuel petcock was on the right, hard to hold the throttle when going to reserve. Thanks for the interest.
