There are two basic catagories of trikes, auto engine & motorcycle conversion. The Rebel trike is a motorcycle conversion. It uses all of the running gear of the motorcycle, except the rear tire. We are in the process of building a Rebel trike and hope to have it rolling in a few weeks. We're using a Rebel 450, an ATV blaster rear axle, and MGB wire spoked wheels. Making all these parts from 3 different companies fit together is challenging. We have done a lot of cutting & welding and sending parts out to the machine shop to make them fit. I don't know if there are any books on the subject. Unless you are very mechanically inclined I wouldn't recommend doing this on you're own. Because if you don't know what to buy, you'll spend a lot of money on the wrong parts. There are several companies that build trikes. Jack's Salvage specializes in Rebel trikes. He helped us in the beginning by teling us what rear axle to use. We've built several auto engine trike and this is our first motorcycle conversion. I hope this answered some of your questions,
Karen
